Josh Hutcherson, Suki Waterhouse to Star in Thriller ‘Plume’ (Exclusive)
THE HOLLYWOOD REPORTER – The Hunger Games‘ Josh Hutcherson has signed on to star opposite Suki Waterhouse (Assassination Nation) and Tilda Cobham-Hervey (Hotel Mumbai) in the thriller Plume.
Written and directed by Mike Gan, the film follows lonely, unstable gas station attendant Melinda (Cobham-Hervey), who is tired of being overshadowed by her more confident, outgoing co-worker Sheila (Waterhouse). When the gas station is held up at gunpoint by Billy (Hutcherson), a desperate man in need of quick cash, Melinda finds an opportunity to make a connection with the robber, regardless of who gets hurt.
Plume is being produced by Yale Prods.’ Jordan Yale Levine, Jordan Beckerman, Michael J. Rothstein and Russ Posternak alongside Sukee Chew of Hopscotch Pictures and Ash Christian of Cranium Entertainment. Film Mode Entertainment is handling international sales and will introduce the film to buyers at European Film Market in Berlin. Production is set to begin later this month, with casting director Brandon Henry Rodriguez rounding out the supporting roles.
The film marks the feature debut for writer-director Gan, who previously gained recognition in the genre filmmaking community for his short No Evil, which screened at the Toronto International Film Festival’s Creative Minds In Toronto Film Program and the Palm Springs International ShortFest.
“I am beyond ecstatic for the opportunity to work with such a talented trio of actors in Josh, Suki and Tilda,” said Gan. “I’m a huge fan of their work and feel they’re perfectly suited to bring the characters of Melinda, Billy and Sheila to life.”
Hutcherson is known for his leading role in the Hunger Games franchise, as well as more recently in The Disaster Artist and the Hulu series Future Man. Waterhouse next stars in several upcoming films, including Assassination Nation, which marked the biggest sale at last month’s Sundance Film Festival, as well as opposite Ryan Reynolds in Legendary’s Detective Pikachu. Cobham-Hervey is best known for her role in 52 Tuesdays and next stars in Hotel Mumbai opposite Armie Hammer and Dev Patel.
Hutcherson is repped by CAA, The Beddingfield Co. and Hansen, Jacobson, Teller. Waterhouse is handled by CAA and Untitled Entertainment as well as Independent Talent Group in the U.K. Cobham-Hervey is repped by CAA and United Management.
