Two more sets of Tributes have been released through Lionsgate and EW.! Along with Jennifer Lawrence and Josh Hutcherson as Katniss and Peeta, The Hunger Games can now add Rue and Thresh from District 11 and Marvel and Glimmer from District 1 into the tournament. Thresh and Rue will be played by newcomers Dayo Okeniyi and Amandla Stenberg; Marvel and Glimmer will be played by Jack Quaid and Leven Rambin.
The official Hunger Games Facebook Page is updating these cast announcements in a movement eerily similar to the presentation of Tributes in the Capitol.
Now, Lionsgate has set its sights on District 11: EW has confirmed exclusively that the studio has cast Hollywood newcomers Dayo Okeniyi and Amandla Stenberg as Thresh and Rue in the adaptation of the Suzanne Collins trilogy, directed by Gary Ross. Okeniyi, playing the intimidatingly strong tribute, has appeared in a short called Eyes to See and an upcoming horror film, Slew Hampshire. Stenberg, who is on board as Katniss’ arena ally Rue, has roles in the September’s Colombiana and the telefilm Taste of Romance. More at the source.
Jack Quaid, son of Meg Ryan and Dennis Quaid, and Leven Rambin (Grey’s Anatomy, All My Children) have been cast as two of the Career Tributes in the movie adaptation of The Hunger Games. Making his acting debut, Quaid will play Marvel, the brutal male tribute from District 1. Ramblin will play his female counterpart Glimmer, the emerald-eyed vixen who nabs the bow and arrow set at the Cornucopia. More at the source.
